We set off from the farm via Villa S. Caterina-Teodone to Lunes, where we ride along the cycle track to Valdaora di Mezzo. Here we turn right towards Gassl and then gradually climb towards the Furcia pass, ascending around 1,200 metres to the summit. Making sure we don’t miss the turning towards Plan de Corones, we leave the Furcia pass and ride along a forest track that increases in gradient over the final 100 metres. Once we have achieved this we are rewarded with a breathtaking view over the whole of the Pustertal valley and beyond.
There are many different options for the route back, with downhill trails including Herrensteig (1,300 m descent over 8 km to Riscone), the Furcia (500 m descent over 4.7 km to the Furcia pass), the Piz de Plaies (385 m descent over 3.8 km to San Vigilio di Marebbe) and the Gassl trail (1,110 m descent over 8.6 km to Valdaora). Depending on the chosen descent, we will cycle along the relevant cycle track, high route or road back to San Giorgio.
