How long is it since you rode through a valley on a sledge? You will have plenty of opportunities to do so on a family holiday on our farm at Christlrumerhof! There are family-friendly sledge runs on Plan de Corones and in the Valle Aurina valley, including the Speikboden skiing area and the Klausberg Ski Arena, all inviting you to take a ride. Many of the sledge runs are within a short distance of Christlrumerhof and sledges can generally be hired locally.
The Klausberg Flitzer roller coaster is a real adventure. It is the longest and most spectacular alpine roller coaster in Italy. You hurtle down 1,800 metres on rails, but don’t worry – you can move the lever forwards or backwards to control the speed. There is a 360 degree loop that makes everyone shout with excitement. And don’t forget – with a ski pass, one ride is free of charge. Enjoy a thrill on your holiday!
You can ride more traditionally on a wooden sledge in Rio Bianco in the Valle Aurina valley or from the Pertinger Alm alpine hut above Terento down into the valley. The child-friendly sledge runs are particularly popular with families. The Taistner Alm is also a very pretty destination for a sledge ride: the 4.2 km run is suitable for both adults and children. If you haven’t brought your sledge you can hire one at the alpine hut. And before embarking on your sledge ride take note: a stop in the hut will warm you up nicely beforehand!
A sledge ride at night is particularly atmospheric. Tog yourself up in a thick winter jacket and enjoy the ride. It doesn’t even need to be full moon – the Korer sledge run at Riscone, which is suitable for families, is floodlit on Tuesdays and Sundays, and you can use the Korer cable car to arrive in comfort at the starting point. One of the longest night sledging runs in South Tyrol can be found in the Klausberg skiing area – if you are a night owl you can buy an evening pass and sledge down as often as you want to.
